Permissions & data

The local process stores tokens under .etsy-mcp and calls Etsy APIs. Returned order and customer information is visible to the AI client.

What credentials are needed?

The project requires an Etsy application key and shared secret, followed by OAuth consent. Use the documented local credential setup rather than placing them in chat prompts.

Where are authorization tokens stored?

The README documents a local .etsy-mcp token directory. Protect that directory and avoid including it in repository commits or shared support bundles.

Can the connector read private orders without seller consent?

Private shop data requires the relevant OAuth authorization. Public listing discovery does not confer permission to read another seller’s receipts or buyer information.

Does reading a receipt update shipping status?

A receipt read provides order context. A shipment update is a separate supported write that should use the correct order and tracking information after the seller verifies the fulfillment details.
